NEW DELHI: Delhi Police killed the hopes of Anna Hazareto sit at Jantar for an indefinite strike on Lokpal issue from August 16th, asking him to look for an alternate site in Delhi if he wants to go on fast for more than one day and more than 2,000 supporters. Police claimed they have not imposed section 144 CrPC (prohibitory orders) at Jantar Mantar but since parliament session would be on when Anna Hazare plans his agitation; his protest would create problems in security and for other groups who would be coming to Jantar Mantar for protests on other issues.Officials said section 144 has been imposed in rest of the New Delhi district from July 30 to September 9. Police inputs suggest that Anna's supporters are mobilising crowd all over Indiaand about 30,000 supporters might gather for his agitation. Meanwhile, there is another hurdle in Anna Hazare's protest with organisers asked to take a No-Objection Certificate (NOC) from NDMC for Jantar Mantar.However, police said this was not its final decision yet department is still in talks with Anna Hazare's team. The police, though, made it clear that it would not compromise on security aspect since parliament session would be on and if orders are not followed then there would be action. "We have neither denied not given permission as of now. We have asked for some clarifications for which we are waiting for reply," said Delhi Police Spokesperson Rajan Bhagat.

Additional Commissioner of Police, New Delhi, K C Dwivedi told Times of India, "We have not stopped Anna Hazare from protesting. We have suggested the organisers that indefinite strike is not possible at Jantar Mantar. There would be parliament session at that time".

Police officers claimed during parliament session, average 25 groups come from various parts of the country at Jantar Mantar everyday for protests and they won't have space if Anna Hazare's thousands supporters are allowed. "It will create law and order problems. There are chances of stampede and massive traffic jams if such a large crowd is allowed for too many days," said a senior officer.

Anna Hazare had sent his request to Delhi Police 13 days ago after which Delhi Police sent him a letter with two queries - a) duration of his protest and b) expected gathering. After a meeting with Delhi Police on Friday, Neeraj (member of Anna Hazare's team) told Times of India, "We told the police that there would be no fixed duration for the agitation and that we cannot stop people from coming to our campaign so we cannot tell the numbers".

Also hinting that Rajghat would also not be allowed to Anna Hazare, police in fact suggested him to sit at Burari. "We have told Anna Hazare that if the number of people is going to cross 2,000 and there is no time limit, then he should hold his dharna at an alternate place like Nirankari Grounds at Burari, etc".

Let delhi police publish the other groups requested to protest at the time of parliamentary session. Let people stop all other campaign and dedicate this session for anticorruption movement only i.e. lokpal and black money. At this crucial time, Anna should not compromise with a stupid token fast.
